Shop like a pro: A few tips to save money and find wine you can actually buy

Buying wine online can sometimes be a perplexing experience. There are confusing laws about which states wineries can ship to, unclear shipping costs and no one to guide you through the process. At Lot18 we are continuously trying to improve and simplify the experience. I’m here to tell you about a few tips and tricks and maybe even save you a few bucks on those shipping charges.

Get Shipping for $0!

One of the complaints we often hear about buying wine online is that the cost of shipping is too expensive. We’ve tried to make it simple and affordable by offering a $9.99 flat rate shipping from any winery. But lets be honest, $0 is a more attractive price. You may not already know, however, that if you order 4 or more bottles from most wineries there is no charge for shipping. Or you can stay peeled to your inbox and wait for a $0 flash-shipping sale, but we can’t promise when that will be or how long it will last!

Watch the Checkout Timer

When you add a product to your cart you might have noticed a 10-minute expiration timer counting down in the upper portion of the page. The products on Lot18 are all offered in limited quantity and have been known to sell out in just a few minutes. We don’t want to penalize you for not being the fastest typer and clicker, so we put the timer in there to protect your order and essentially “reserve” the items in your cart for up to 10 minutes. But if you don’t complete your order within the allotted time, the products are placed back in inventory and are up for grabs by anyone. So make sure you keep an eye on the clock!

Find Offers with the State Filter

The state filter is an easy tool in identifying offers that can ship to your state. Select the state you are shipping to and we will tell you what offers are eligible. It’s seriously that simple. If you’re in a state with strict direct shipping laws, we feel for you. We’re doing everything we can to bring wine to as many states as possible, but you can get involved too. We’ll be rolling out more features in the coming months to make your Lot18 shopping experience even easier. Keep an eye here and on the Lot18 homepage for updates!
